Meaford Scarecrow Invasion Co- recipient of Tourism Award

Community Awards

It is with a great deal of pride that I announce to all of you (our treasured sponsors & volunteers) that you are the recipients of the prestigious 2013 Tourism Award, sponsored by Third Line Homes.  The Scarecrow Invasion Executive happily received the award on your behalf at the Meaford Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner & Presentations at the end of March.  Every single one of you should have been on stage to take a well-deserved bow.

Together with our residents and businesses, and with the support of visitors who, throughout September and October are drawn to our community to “meet” all the scarecrows, you create the Invasion’s great popularity in the region, and its on-going success.

Thank you from the bottom of my ‘straw-filled’ heart!

 With Warm Scarecrow Wishes,

Very Proud Head Scarecrow

This award is presented to an existing business that has shown a commitment to local tourism through a welcoming attitude, awareness and promotion of local attractions.

The nomination committee had an extremely difficult decision in this category and, as a result, there are two recipients this year. One group is very well known around the community for “consistently promoting all of the events and tourism related organizations and businesses with their promotional packages” as well as the large crowds they bring into the community each fall.

The other group has a shorter track record but in the time they have been around they have developed and promoted a model to “allow local businesses to participate with offers that would attract visitors from the B&B’s to explore their offering as well”. They also participated in the 2013 Dragon’s Den competition and placed second.
